Oral hygiene

Mutes dobuma higiēna

A beautiful smile is like your business card! All over the world, a lot of attention is paid to your smile, whether you take care of it. Even with perfectly healthy teeth, it is almost impossible to keep them perfectly clean with only a toothbrush. This is especially difficult if you have any dentures or braces in your mouth (even if you have crowns or implants). Therefore, it is necessary to perform dental hygiene at least once every 6 months. Regular visits to the hygienist play a vital role in maintaining excellent dental health.

The hygienist removes:

  • pigments,

  • supragingival and subgingival calculus,

  • polishes teeth

  • anprovides valuable and patient-friendly oral care advice.

Then, during the hygiene procedure, the teeth are polished with special brushes, rubber cups and polishing paste. Plaque and calculus adhere worse to polished teeth surfaces.

If necessary, a dental hygienist will explain how to properly clean and floss your teeth, help you choose the most appropriate toothbrush and toothpaste, and will also recommend various mouthwashes that can be purchased here at the clinic.

The dental hygienist will also check your teeth for anything suspicious and send to the dentist, if necessary.

Tooth cleaning with implants or crowns

People often think that when they put on crowns / bridges or screw in an implant, they no longer have to clean as hard as before, because it is not the "real" tooth. But this idea is very misleading. If implants are inserted or crowns are placed on the teeth, they must be cleaned as good as natural teeth. On these prostheses plaque even loves to cling more than to natural teeth.

If you have dental implants, you need to have very good hygiene, because the accumulation of bacteria can lead to the formation of a periimplantitis, which is an inflammation around the implant and bone recession in implant area, which can lead to the loss of the implant.

Teeth whitening

Many people are unsatisfied with the color of the teeth, so they even avoid smiling in public places. Others are not aware of whether teeth whitening damages teeth surface and how long the color is going to maintain. If a patient decides to whiten the teeth, there are several options that will be suggested by the dentist or dental hygienist.

Can whitening with Philips Zoom damage my teeth?

There are many different scientific and clinical studies that prove that bleaching with Philips Zoom is a safe procedure. Philips Zoom pH is alkaline, so it does not injure tooth tissues and does no harm to tooth enamel or dentin.

The whitening procedure with Philips Zoom takes about 2 hours. After the procedure, it is not recommended to use acidic or staining products for 24-48 hours, which can cause erosion or discoloration of the tooth surface (for example, citrus fruits, berries, sour or carbonated drinks, coffee, black and green tea, beets, carrots etc.).

Tooth discoloration is very individual and unpredictable. If the teeth are light, then the changes can be within 1-3 shades, but if they are darker, then teeth can become even 6-8 shades lighter! It is recommended to repeat the procedure once a year or once in 2 years, because over time the teeth become darker due to the diet.

Patients, who have whitened their teeth in our clinic, claim that it improves their well-being, makes them feel more self-confident and encourages to smile more often in public places. They definitely recommend the procedure to others as well.

For better Philips Zoom results, even after whitening on site, you should do home bleaching for up to 2 weeks.

Deep fluoridation

Dziļā fluorizēšana

Ingredients of "Thiefenfluoride":

  • The fluorination preparation contains magnesium hexafluorosilicate, copper hexafluorosilicate, sodium fluoride (stabilizer) and distilled water;

  •  The secondary liquid contains calciumhydroxy-hochdispers, methylcellulose and distilled water;

  •  “Tiefenfluorid junior” additionally contains xylitol, sucrose and natural strawberry flavor.

Tiefenfluorid

Indications for use of the preparation:

  • For local fluoridation;

  • To reduce the sensitivity of the tooth;

  • Teeth fissure mineralization;

  • Caries prevention;

  • After removal of braces and other orthodontic appliances;

Procedure:

  • Teeth are cleaned, polished and dried. The first fluoridation preparation is applied. This is followed by a second preparation. Then rinse your mouth thoroughly. You can eat and drink immediately after the procedure.

Reduction of tooth neck sensitivity:

  • Tiefenfluoride treatment should be repeated 1-2 times every 8-14 days and maintenance therapy should be performed 1-2 times a year.

Teeth fissure mineralization:

  • Tiefenfluoride treatment should be repeated twice every 8-14 days and maintenance therapy should be performed 1-2 times a year.

Caries prevention:

The procedure should be repeated at least once a year, and in patients with braces and other fixed orthodontic appliances at least 2x a year.

Deep fluoridation, as opposed to conventional fluoridation, refers to the formation of submicroscopic crystals of CaF2 in the pores of a softened tooth enamel or solid tooth substance. CaF2 consists of particles with a diameter of only 50 A. They are formed together with magnesium fluoride crystals and a silicic acid preparation after both preparations are applied to the enamel or cement part of the tooth.

Unlike relatively large CaF2 crystals, which are formed as a result of normal fluoridation and applied to the enamel surface (using NaF), CaF2 crystals are formed up to a depth of 7 microns. These crystals create an optimal environment for fluorine ions, which combine with salivary minerals to provide strong and long-lasting remineralization.

First-aid after ingestion of Tiefenfluorid:

  • Drink plenty of water or milk.

This medicine should be used during pregnancy and lactation, and children under 6 years of age should only be instructed to do so by a doctor.

Masking white spots on teeth

Treatment with the ICON system provides:

  • Excellent aesthetic results on the smooth surfaces of the frontal teeth;

  • Ability to improve dental aesthetics in cases of early enamel carious lesions;

  • Minimally invasive technology, the procedure is not painful and do not require drilling;

  • Aesthetic changes during one visit;

  • A great way to improve your dental aesthetics:

o  Both for children and adult patients;

o  In cases when the tooth has already erupted with changes in the tone of the enamel (hypomineralization spots);

o  After orthodontic treatment in cases of “white demineralization defects” on the teeth due to poor hygiene;

o  In case of dental fluorosis spots (if an excessive dose of fluoride is used earlier);
